Our journey began with a simple but pressing need we noticed right in our own office.

As a software development company, we often received phone calls from people asking for help recovering their data. One day, someone called us in a panic because their computer wouldn’t turn on, and all their important emails were stuck on that machine. Back in 2008, mobile email apps were not as common, and most people kept their emails on their work computers. If the system drive failed, they lost everything, no password recovery, no email access. Two-factor authentication only started becoming available for personal users around 2011.

Over the years, more and more people and our friends, clients, and partners reached out to us after accidentally deleting files, losing important photos, or experiencing hardware failures. Unfortunately, at that time, we didn’t have a ready solution to offer.

This growing demand inspired us to build one.
